We here at Truth & Charity (I am presuming to speak for all of us!) are incredibly thankful to all of our wonderful readers. We’ve seen big spikes in our page views recently, and believe that now is the time to embark on a big, super secret project that we’ve been discussing. As Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI indicated in Porta Fidei announcing the Year of Faith: “Today too, there is a need for stronger ecclesial commitment to new evangelization in order to rediscover the joy of believing and the enthusiasm for communicating the faith (7).”
We discussed different ways of using the popularity of Truth & Charity to communicate the faith to new believers, and agreed on a few things:
- Catholics today need instruction on the core beliefs of the faith, and so we wanted to incorporate the Catechism in our efforts.
- Today’s society, while ever-connected through social media, thirsts for authentic companionship, such as friends getting together for a shared meal.
- The youth today are increasingly pulled toward the party lifestyle (alcohol, drugs, etc.), and so we wanted our outreach to have a sobering effect on its audience.
With these goals in mind (and with my own economic research into growing consumer markets), Truth & Charity proudly announces: Truth & Cherry Tea!
Each bottle of delicious cherry tea will feature a picture of one of your favorite T&C bloggers on the front, and an insightful paragraph from the Catechism on the back:
You will be able to purchase them individually at grocery and convenience stores, or in bulk quantities like the typical six-pack, twelve-pack, and our unique “Benedict the 16-pack:”
(We had begun planning this outreach before Pope Benedict announced his resignation, but he still has our deep respect and admiration, so we decided to continue with this design. We have plans to incorporate Pope Francis into later offerings!)
We hope that you will enjoy our tea as much as you’ve enjoyed our postings.
Deo gra-tea-as!
